The grabbing hands grab all they can

Okay so name that tune from the blog post title.......

Yesterday, Sunday the 20th, a mere 3 days before my 5th month birthday, mommy fed me my first jar of strained peas, which is probably a really nice way of saying bland.

But they were good, I ate a lot of it with most of it going into my tummy and not on my bib. So here's to vegetables!

Maybe check back in with me in a few years and see what I think of them at that point, but for now, they're good to go. In fact, I finished up the jar this evening which surprised mommy and daddy.

Actually, I think they're more surprised that I keep grabbing the spoon! I can't quite feed myself just yet, but I figure I might as well learn how to hold the darn thing (and for those keeping track I've been holding it in my right hand).

Full disclosure: I've pretty much been grabbing what's ever around and trying to jam it in my mouth, just seems like the right thing to do right now. I've just about perfected the double-thumb suck.

And lastly, Sunday was a double fun day as I also did some more rolling over just to show daddy I could do it, but just a little cold for my taste, so we didn't do that for long. I'm not so sure I'm real fond of the cold weather yet.

Milestones: Snow and Rolling Over

Six days shy of my 5-month birthday I got to see my first snow! And boy was it cold too. Mommy said no 2 snowflakes are alike, but all I saw was white on everything, then mushy stuff on everything and then just plain chilly rain.

So that's snow, eh? I could do without, but it was something new so a big "yay!" for me I guess.

Mommy was more excited yesterday because of the thing I started doing with Grandma Connelly at Gymboree. I flipped over from my front to back.

After I did that at Gymboree people started clapping and that felt pretty good inside, so I figure I'll have to do it again. When mommy got home Grandma put me on my tummy and asked me to do it again.

But first I impressed mommy by holding my head up high and strong, how 'bout that, eh?

Then I remembered the clapping thing so I rolled over and mommy got all kinds of excited, so we did it again and then once more just to show it wasn't a trick or anything.

Mommy says it won't be long now before I start crawling.....whatever that is I hope it doesn't involve any of that snow stuff.

The week that was

Last week was fun and interesting. My new bestest buddy Bridget watched me all week. Some of you may recall me mentioning Bridget's name earlier, she was the wonderful person who subbed for mommy while she stayed home with me for a while.

Well, of course mommy went back to work and Bridget was available to watch me for the week. We went for some walks and played a lot....okay yeah, a lot of sleep in there too, but you know what I'm getting at.

See, the day care mommy and daddy were planning to use fell through, but so far no big deal. I get to stay home and between Bridget and Grandma Connelly (psst...she just had a birthday - HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRANDMA!!!) they've been watching me.

But here's the other thing, last week was my buddy Ryan's last week helping mommy teach her bands. Some of you know Ryan and some don't - Ryan is heading off to the Air Force, but before he flew off, he took time to help help teach the bands.

He's a fun guy....makes me laugh. Well last Friday, we went to his other job at Longhorn Steakhouse to help celebrate his last night there. We had a good time, you should've seen daddy trying to eat his dinner and feed me my bottle at the same time - funny sight!

So to close - thank you Bridget and Ryan!

December 26th Grandparents Part 3

So the day after Christmas, my last set of grandparents showed up. Let's recap: Christmas Eve was the Schillaci grandparents; Christmas Day was the Connelly grandparents and Boxing Day (clever, eh?) was the Wise Grandparents.

They drove down from Ohio on the 26th and brought my cousin Hannah with them. It's a long drive, but they made it without too much trouble. They brought more stuff with them too! I gotta say this time of year is just full of wondrous stuff, my goodness!

The bad thing though was I had picked up a little cold along the way, I was coughing here and there and my nose was all stuffy (which made me more drooly than usual, if there's such a thing as normal drool).

Then as seems to be happening a lot these days, mommy and daddy took me to my room to sleep and left me there all night while they went back to whatever it was they were doing. From the thumping all over the house I think they were playing that dance video game again, but what do I know?

December 25th Grandparents Part II

I have to admit, to clear all of our consciences, that I didn't get to bed until after midnight on Christmas Eve, but daddy did get to read me "The Night Before Christmas" before midnight came around.

Not quite sure if I understand this "Santa" thing yet, but I guess I have some time to figure it out.

When I woke up on Christmas morning the house was smelling different, but good, it made me hungry! As the day went on, it smelled even better, I guess daddy was making a pot roast, or that's what mommy told me when I got to eat.

Grandma and Granpa Connelly came over in the afternoon and we some more of these things they call presents to fling around. The stuff they wrap these presents with makes a bit of a mess, but it all looks like so much fun to rip off and toss around!

I scored some more good loot though including some books and outfits.....I wonder how often this Christmas thing happens???? Maybe ever 4 months?????

Oh hey, let me tell you this too: On the 23rd I officially turned 4 months old!!! And 2 days before that though, boy oh boy, that wasn't fun......mommy and daddy took me back to the doctor's and they stuck me with needles again! Why do they insist on doing this every time I go??????

But they took my vitals too, I was 13 pounds, 4 ounces and 24 inches long - I'm a growing boy, but once again, why those needles, eh? Okay sorry, back to the 25th.....

During dinner, mommy tried feeding me some sweet potatoes. Now that I'm a big boy at 4 months, I guess I can start eating different kinds of food (who knew there was such a thing?!?), but mostly the sweet potatoes rolled down my bib. Oh well.

I did a lot of napping after that, so I don't really know what else went on that day, though there was a lot of jumping up and down in the family room....daddy got mommy some kind of game where she has to step to music things on the television. I don't quite understand it, but mommy really seems to like it.

December 24th - Grandparents Part 1

We took a trip down to Rock Hill for Christmas Eve and visited with the Schillacis. What a fun time it was, there was good food and some presents and all sorts of people paying attention to me!

I tried my best to help open some presents, but I'm still learning. I got a neat set of jammies that I tried on and wore the rest of the night - they were very comfy and I certainly slept well on the way home!

It's fun visiting my grandparents (and cousin Alicia!), they pay so much attention to me and I always seem to fall asleep on Grandpa's lap and have a nice nap. And they certainly didn't mind me chatting through dinner with them, though I don't think anyone really understood what I was trying to say, but I guess that goes with the territory at this point.

I had more fun grinning and giggling at everyone and getting them to smile back at me, now that's loads of fun!
