3 Months Old

Wow, it's hard to believe it's been 3 months already! I've been learning lots of new things and working on perfecting others.

If you haven't seen me in a little while, I look very different. Maybe daddy will post some of my new pictures on my picture page... it seems as though they are constantly taking new pictures of me. Grandma Connelly says I'm starting to look like my mommy, thanks to my new chubby cheeks. (Mommy wasn't sure how to take that comment, but she was happy nonetheless.) I'm still losing my hair faster than it's growing back. I keep hearing that this is how I'll look when I get a lot older, too. But, that's million of years away.

My vision is getting much better. I can see almost 15 feet, which means I can see my mommy and daddy from across the room. My eyes are still a deep blue color, which my mommy loves. I recently watched my very first Baby Einstein video... WOW, it was sooo cool.

I'm working on holding my head up on my own. It still wobbles every now and then, but I'm working hard to steady it. When I lay stomache-down on my Boppy pillow, I pretty good at holding up my head to look around. I'm still working on lifting my head when laying flat on my stomache. (I'm not a big fan of "tummy time.") Mommy and daddy are trying to teach me to use my arms to push up, but I like to pretend I'm a seal and lift from my chest.

I'm still not sure what these things are on the end of my arms, but I'm discovering I can use them to grab my favorite baby-sized blanket (mommy says its a washcloth) to stuff into my mouth. This also helps me wipe off this wet stuff constantly dribbling out of my mouth...I always like to look my best. These things on the end of my arms are also fun to stuff into my mouth and to make some of my hanging toys move back and forth.

And then there are these things on the end of my legs... I have no idea who they belong to!!

I learned something very fun recently -- Mommy was holding me upright and whenever I pushed and tried to straighten my legs, I zoomed very high into the air. Oh, how fun!! I could do this all day. I tried doing this again while laying down in my crib, but I didn't seem to go anywhere. Hmmm...

Thanksgiving with the Schillaci's

Today, I made my first trip to Rock Hill, South Carolina, to visit with my Grandpa and Grandma Schillaci, Aunt Alicia and Great-Aunt Kathy. Mom and dad were talking about this day being called "Thanksgiving Day" and something about pilgrims and Indians and a great big feast of food. FOOD...that sounded good to me!!

I was able to spend time and have pictures taken with everyone as they took turns holding me. (Hopefully, I'll be able to get a copy of those pictures and add them to me scrapbook someday soon.) I'm not sure why, but whenever Grandpa Schillaci held me, I seemed to always fall asleep...he was nice and comfy. :)

I stayed pretty quiet the whole time we were there, cataloging all the sights and sounds into my database... I mean memory. I'm not old enough to sit at the big table, so mommy put me in my "flying saucer" bouncy chair and placed me near the table. Boy, did their food look good --turkey, corn, SWEET POTATOES (mommy's favorite), stuffing, pumpkin pie, etc. I made sure that as soon as mommy was done eating (and she was the last one), that I signaled to her that it was MY turn. Wow, that was a good meal.

I'm still not sure what this Thanksgiving Day is all about, except for a lot of eating, so daddy promised to tell me all about it someday soon.

The Light Factory

Tonight daddy and mommy took me out to a cool arts event. The Light Factory opened its River Docs exhibit tonight and it was crowded but really cool!

In fact, it was so crowded we started out looking at the Stray Shopping Cart Project, this is also a really neat show. Daddy and me have looked through the website a few times and I can't wait for my first real ride in a shopping cart!

River Docs was still chock full of people, which made it challenging to move around, so we're already planning a return trip. Daddy wants to try the touch screen display, it was mobbed with people so we didn't get a chance to see it.

We took some time to explore as many of the photos as we could get to in the gallery (did I mention it was crowded?) and my favorites were Raymond Grubb's. His photo of the tree on the floodplain between Lincolnton and Hickory really caught my attention.

There was another picture I liked of the bridge that's just down the road from where we live and it showed how the shoreline was changed by the drought. I'm not old enough to quite understand all that, but daddy was telling me how we try hard not to waste water these days.

So wow, seeing all those people hanging around was really something else, what a neat place. I can't wait to go back again and again!

12 weeks old today!!!

I celebrated turning 12-weeks old today by giving mommy 5-some hours of time without eating! She's been not feeling so well this week, so she deserved a little break I thought. Besides, it's not like they're gonna break out the champagne or anything because I turned 12, it's only a number, granted a number I can't count to just yet, but a number all the same.

Get this though, I heard mommy tell daddy that 12 weeks means I'm 84 days old (I'm guessing that's a lot of days...) which really means that my 90-day warranty is about to expire. I'm not sure what that means, so if anyone out there can help me better understand that, drop me a line will ya?
