My First Overnight Trip

So we left Friday morning heading for Atlanta to watch the band perform at the BOA Super Regional. Car trips are fun, I think....I keep falling asleep once the car starts rolling!

The miles seemed to fly by and next thing I know we were in Atlanta watching the band warm up for their competition. They were the 2nd band in performance, so it was a little cold inside that big ol' dome, but boy the band did real well, just a few more years and I'll be able to be out there with them!

I got hungry after that, so mommy and daddy took me back to the car to feed me and change me. They went back in to watch a few more bands, but I wasn't interested, but they wouldn't leave me in the car, so I just went back to sleep until they we went to the hotel.

The hotel room was a strange place, I wasn't so thrilled with not having my trusty crib around, so mommy and daddy had to juggle me in a few different places throughout the evening, but I survived.

Saturday was long too, with watching more bands and then dinner which was in the CNN Center crowded with all sorts of people. It was also time for a diaper change, so when everyone left to go back to the stadium, daddy plopped me on a chair and changed my diaper in the back corner. A little odd, but boy did I feel better!

When we tried getting back in the dome, the security people didn't want to let my stroller in, but that's how I was in there earlier in the day, so how could they say no? I put on my best "how cute am I?" sleeping face and pretty soon we were in!

Mommy found some seats next to this older couple. They were there to see their grandson who was in the Jacksonville State Marching Southerners. We made quick friends with them. They were lots of fun to listen to and made nice comments about me, which made me blush!

By the time we got up Sunday to leave, we were all ready to get back to the comforts of home. It got cold at home while we were gone, the rain that came in really changed the weather. I think I'm still adjusting to it because I haven't been all that comfortable at home just yet.

In fact, daddy just gave me a bath and it was COLD! He kept putting warm water on me, but I'm just glad he finished as quickly as he did. Mommy got some bedtime clothes for me, but I'm still just not all that comfortable.

I'm tired, but I can't seem to get to sleep very well.....maybe soon, I'll get to lie down and find those rabbits to chase!

My First Shots

Today, one day after my 2-month anniversary, I went in for my first shots and let me tell you it was quite the experience. I've been a little fussy the last few days just because I figure mommy and daddy need the challenge, but today was something altogether different.

Firstly though, I weighed in at 9 pounds and 7 ounces this morning and I measured 21 inches long. I'm just now getting on the growth charts, but my growth curves are going in the right direction!

The nurse gave me 3 shots, 2 in my left leg and 1 in my right. Boy that first shot was a jolt....why would she do that to me??? Daddy said that was the loudest he had ever heard me cry, well, until the 2nd shot came along. I cried again for that one, even while mommy was doing her best to comfort me.

The 3rd shot really got me, why do they keep doing this to me and when will it stop??? Thankfully it did with that 3rd one and pretty soon I drifted off to sleep.

When I got home though, I started running a little fever, which apparently was expected. I'd wake up every now and again not feeling well and mommy did really well to calm me down. Around 8pm or so, I started feeling better and my fever went away. There's still little pains here and there, but for the most part, I think I'm going to survive this.

Hopefully I won't have to go through all that again.........

Oh yeah, come back this weekend as I'm taking my first out of state trip on Friday! We're going to Atlanta with my favorite band!

My First Football Game

Tonight was 8th Grade Band night with the High School marching band and mommy wanted to go and see her students. So they dressed me up and took me to the game. It was rainy during the day, so it was a bit of a challenge to get me ready to go, but they prevailed (yay mommy!).

We also got to try out my Snugli tonight too since I fit into it a whole lot better now that I'm getting to be 9 pounds big and 8 weeks old. Daddy strapped on the Snugli and carried me around for the first half. It was a little rough walking from the band room to the stadium because there was some rough grass and that jostled me around, but all those bright lights and smells and noises were just too interesting to resist.

So of course I fell asleep.

And I slept through nearly the entire first half. The East Lincoln football team was on its game tonight against West Lincoln, so the band played "The Horse" a lot. Standing in front of the drums was interesting but daddy kept covering up my ears so I couldn't listen all that well.

He turned around one time though and I got to watch them play which was really interesting for a while, but that was tiring so I went to sleep again.

And how about this, I learned a new skill tonight! Yep, sitting in the Snugli keeps me close to daddy's chest, so when my binky popped out it was still right there next to me and I figured out how to move my head around and get it back in my mouth.

I did a few times so both mommy and daddy could see it, boy were they proud!

After halftime they took me back to the band room to change my diaper because there's no sense whatsoever to use the stadium bathrooms - yuck and yuck.

By that time the game was pretty much over and so was my night. Oh well, back home again and ready for more sleep!

Saturday in the home

Daddy's been hanging with me most of today. This morning he was making really goofy faces at me while feeding me, so I had no choice but to make those same goofy faces right back him!

Mommy took me to the doctor yesterday because I was pretty congested. Mommy's been squirting my nose and sticking some thing in it to suck out my boogers.....not sure what I think about that.

I think that's why daddy's been keeping a close eye on me today, so that's why I rewarded him with probably my most dirty diaper yet. It was explosive, or at least that's what he said when he changed me. After that I decided to kinda take it easy on him and have been sleeping most of the day.

North Lincoln Band Competition

This past Saturday was my 2nd band competition already. Two of these things in less than 7 weeks, boy, Autumn's a busy time of year!

This time around I got to see the show in person and it was a lot closer than last weekend too. Daddy started out carrying me around in the my baby carrier and I could tell after about 30 minutes that he was getting a workout with it (and I'm still pretty small and lightweight too!).

So Mommy took me out of the carrier while we walked over to see the band warm up for their Finals performance. Let me tell you, that band can play, I can't wait until I'm old enough to be one of them!

Mommy sat on the sideline for the show holding me while Daddy was taking pictures and it was the best fun I had in a long time.......okay I know that sounds odd, a long time for me isn't really that long after all, but you know what I mean, right?

I knew that you would!

Mommy kept giggling at me during the show because I was so happy listening to them perform, it's just so much fun I can't help but smile and move my arms!

Friday Night Football

Friday was an interesting day for a bunch of reasons. Mommy had a doctor's appointment in the morning and Dr. Hildebrand gave her a clean bill of health! She's finally recovered from having me!

But Dr. Hildebrand and his office staff were sad, it meant they won't be seeing Mommy and I for almost 5 months, but Mommy promised to stop by with a few photos of us to let them post in their office.

Hey, that reminds me, Grandma Connelly finished up my birth announcement and they'll be going out soon, so be on the look out. Personally, I think I look pretty darn cute, but then again my eye focus isn't that great just yet.

Anyhow, after all that, Mommy went over to the Middle School for the afternoon to catch up with her substitute teacher Birdget. This gave me time to hang out with my favorite chorus teacher, Ms. Hinson! She's a blast.

Then, we went by the High School to see the marching band - the highlight of my day. The band kids were just starting to show up for the pre-game meal. A whole bunch of them stood around me staring, it kinda got to me a bit, so I figured I'd just go to sleep....again.

But when they started warming up, boy oh boy, I just had to wake up and get my jiggy on!

Wait, is that correct? "Get my jiggy on"? Or am I supposed to be "gettin' jiggy wit' it"? Please someone let me know will you????

My point the band is really good and when I hear them play, I just gotta move it!

Do you know what else happened? The Band Parents gave mommy a really nice gift for me, it's this cool little Baby Einstein play thing that when I'm a little older will give me all sorts of fun time!

Mommy and Daddy told me to make sure I thank the band parents for the wonderful gift, so THANK YOU!!!!

Last Tuesday - My Trip to Daddy's work

So last Tuesday mommy got me all prettied up for my first trip to daddy's office. Boy does he ever have a great bunch of co-workers! I can't tell you how many of them stopped by to see me, I still can't keep all their names straight, but I'm sure I'll be seeing them again soon.

And since I'm pretty much in the midst of some kind of growth spurt, I did end up sleeping most of the time, but that seems to be my MO for these past 6+ weeks (MO, you like that? Not even 2 months and I'm already tossing out the slang!).

Apparently we went out for lunch after that visit, but I really don't remember much of it at this point.....kinda a recurring theme in my life so far.
